WOMEN who bottle-feed their baby are made to feel like second-rate parents by 'breast is best' campaigns, researchers said yesterday.
A study found that one in ten mothers felt a sense of failure, guilt and uncertainty about not breastfeeding after their intentions to do so fell through.
Many also worry about what their health visitor or midwife might say to them, as well as being concerned about how formula milk will affect their baby's health.
Professor Frank Furedi and Dr Ellie Lee, from the University of Kent, looked at women's feelings on breastfeeding, with interviews with 33 mothers who bottle-fed their babies under three months.
