ARLINGTON, Texas - David Ortiz has accepted an invitation to take part in the All-Star Game's Home Run Derby on Monday at Comerica Park in Detroit.
Ortiz, who was the leading All-Star vote-getter in either league with 4.14 million, was knocked out of last year's Home Run Derby in the first round, but his pitcher, Red Sox staff assistant Ino Guerrero, struggled with his control.
This year, Ortiz will face third base coach Dale Sveum, who was his pitcher when he won the home run contest before the Hall of Fame Game in Cooperstown on May 23.
