TOKYO & BEDMINSTER, N.J. -- Japan Telecom Co.,Ltd. (HQ: Minato-ku Tokyo), working jointly with Tohoku University's Research Center for 21st-Century Information Technology (IT-21 Center) and Flarion Technologies, today announced the technology trial for seamless roaming and handoff between fixed Wi-Fi access area and a mobile broadband network using Flarion's FLASH-OFDM(R) technology in Sendai, Japan.

The mobile broadband aspect of the trial will make use of the 2 Gigahertz frequency band, recently given to Japan Telecom by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The trial is taking place at Tohoku University.
