Skip Beitzel is grinning. It's snowing. And snow is good when you own a ski shop.
But the funny thing is that it's just snowing on his side of Main Street in Armonk. More specifically, it's snowing just on his property.
No freakish storm, it's the work of Beitzel's little blue snow-making machine called a Backyard Blizzard. Beitzel calls it "the best piece of marketing I've ever bought."
Beitzel rolled out the machine about 4 a.m. on Dec. 15, the first real cold night of late fall. He hooked up a garden hose, and plugged the electrical cords into two outlets--"cause it draws a lot of power"--and flipped the switch. Shooting up the 8-foot long ...
