Universal Music Group has had a burst of activity in the video arena this month, pacting with BBC Worldwide to exploit BBC archive content on DVD and video download product and with EMI Music Publishing for music content to be used in video-on-demand, DualDisc and other platforms.
"We are definitely focused on video," said Amanda Marks, executive VP of eLabs, UMG's digital division. "We're not just a record company. We're a music entertainment company."
Encouraged by consumer interest in music video DVDs, the company is putting out more and more of them, as well as looking at other digital video formats, she explained.
