I've never fancied readymade baby food in jars. Most of the big commercial brands contain added sugars, flavourings and copious quantities of low-nutrient starches to supply that wallpaper paste consistency. Of course you can buy smaller, often organic brands that use superior ingredients. But any baby food sold in a jar still has the spectre of semicarbazide hanging over it - that's the chemical by-product of the plastic seals used in the inside of twist-off lids.
