CHICAGO _ A mixture of happiness and relief swirled Wednesday night through U.S. Cellular Field as the White Sox coasted to a 7-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
The Sox's delight started with the American League All-Star selection of leadoff batter Scott Podsednik, who proceeded to ignite two rallies after his reward was announced in the top of the third inning.
And it continued with designated hitter Frank Thomas slugging a three-run home run in the fifth inning for his 11th home run and his third in four games.
The relief came from Jermaine Dye and Jose Contreras, who each provided comfort as the Sox ...
