COPENHAGEN, Denmark _ The White House pointedly changed its timetable for nominating a new Supreme Court justice Wednesday, saying President Bush is in no hurry and could take weeks to announce his choice _ contrary to expectations that he would move quickly to set the terms of the debate.
The reasons for the change are unclear, but the new approach would shorten the period between a nomination and Senate confirmation hearings, giving opponents less time to mobilize.
