Lichfield joins Warwick tonight in the region's current round of festivals, and on Saturday they clash big-time.

Before that crunch, however, tonight Lichfield brings Midland opera-lovers a special chance to catch one of Handel's rarely-performed works for the stage when The Opera Company brings Flavio to the city's comfortable and adaptable Garrick Theatre (7.30pm). This rather quirky tale of Lombardian politics comes complete with banishments to govern Britain with all its lawlessness and dodgy climate.
