THE Mersey Wave, Liverpool's answer to the Angel of the North, is once again lighting up the skies over south Liverpool. The spectacular modern structure, which spans the Speke-Widnes link road outside the Jaguar plant, is the first sculpture in the UK specifically designed to be viewed from a moving car.
Its reappearance follows extensive modifications to its design which features 12 giant fins.
The Mersey Wave, originally installed in November, 2003, was taken down in early 2004 after it was discovered that in certain wind conditions the fins moved in a way that was not anticipated.
