CORRECTION (ran 7/24/05): The Lane County Medical Society contributed $26,191.67 to the National Transplant Assistance Fund's Northwest Spinal Cord Injury Fund in the name of South Eugene High School student Alex Ghenis, who suffered paralysis last year after he injured his spinal cord in a bicycle jump accident. A story on Page A1 of the July 4 Register-Guard did not include the donation among money raised for Alex, who can access 96 percent of the money only for uninsured expenses associated with his continued care.
