ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Progress Energy Florida reported an unprecedented demand for electricity this week as customers set a third consecutive peak record for summer usage. On Thursday, July 7, between 4 and 5 p.m., customers used approximately 9,031 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity, eclipsing the previous day's peak-demand record by 39 megawatt- hours.
