Abstract
More organisations are becoming aware of the importance of social interactions and relationships at work. Consequently, organisations are faced with a challenge to understand this phenomenon and its implications on the workplace. This paper reviews the theory of social capital as presented by N Lin in Social Capital: A Theory of Social Structure and Action, critiquing its stage of theoretical development using Susan Lynham's applied theory building research methodology.
