House appropriators appear set to kill the Air Force's increasingly troubled air-to-surface missile program, while also following lockstep with authorizers to cut some of the Pentagon's top space programs.

In one of the more drastic cuts in its markup of the fiscal year 2006 defense spending bill, the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee removed almost all the money requested for the Lockheed Martin [LMT] Joint Air-to- Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM), and recommends terminating the program.
