Senate Democrats urged Republican leaders to schedule a final vote on the FY '06 Defense Authorization Bill as soon as possible.
The Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) approved the $441.6 billion spending plan early last month, but the bill has yet to be scheduled for a full Senate vote. The Senate is currently voting on judicial nominations and next week is scheduled to take up energy legislation.
The House's $441 billion FY '06 defense authorization bill was approved on May 25.
"It's time that the Congress puts troops ahead of politics," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters yesterday. ...
