LOS ANGELES -- LA INC., the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, today announced the election of Stanley E. Washington, Regional Vice President & General Manager, American Express, U.S. Commercial Card, Western Region, as Chairman of the LA INC. Board of Directors. Washington's appointment was confirmed at the LA INC. board of directors meeting June 6. Washington assumed his duties on July 1, and will serve a one-year term through June 30, 2006. Taking the gavel from Irene Hirano, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Japanese American National Museum, Washington assumes the chairmanship after serving LA INC. as an active board member since 2000.
