Jul. 12--PROVIDENCE -- Amtrak's Acela trains were carrying riders between Washington and New York yesterday for the first time since they were sidetracked by brake problems in April, but passengers seeking the high-speed connection to Boston and Providence will have to wait.
Amtrak resumed Acela Express service on the busy Washington-to-New York corridor after some trains were fitted with new brakes, but an Amtrak spokeswoman said yesterday that there is no word yet on when the fast trains will be back on runs to Boston and Providence.
