About four years ago, Jami DeQuardo of Cross Plains was like a lot of muggle-minded adults - she heard of Harry Potter, the lightning-scarred boy wizard, but she didn't read J.K. Rowling's best-selling books.

That's when a relative gave her a spare copy of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." Within two weeks, DeQuardo finished the opening installment, then the bulky second, third and fourth books, too. For two years, she eagerly awaited the fifth one's 2003 release.
