Chittagong, July 12 (UNB) - At least 50 people, including police and Ansar men, were injured in a clash between law-enforcers and illegal occupiers of land of Chittagong Port during an eviction drive at Laldiar Char in Patenga thana today (Tuesday).
Witnesses said the clash took place in the morning when police and the Ansar members went to evict some 1,000 erosion-affected families who occupied 22.50 acres of land of the port nearly for decades ago.
Concerned sources said the Port Authority had issued notices thrice to the land occupiers asking them to leave the place but they did not respond.
