Jul. 11--Development -- it's what Oak Park wants and what, some say, 8 Mile needs.
And it could be coming to the old Detroit Artillery Armory property, on 8 Mile east of Greenfield, which has been moldering for nearly a decade.
There's hope for new retail stores, drive-through dining, sprawling industrial sites and big shopping centers.
Schostak Brothers & Co., a real estate firm in Southfield, owns the armory and the Northland Plaza property to the north. The company's plan is to divide the nearly 100 acres for industrial and commercial development.
