Jul. 13--Monterey County supervisors were asked Tuesday by the lead developer in Rancho San Juan to cancel a November election on the 4,000-home project north of Salinas and consider a much smaller project instead.
Supervisors will consider the request by developer Moe Nobari at their Aug. 16 meeting.
Nobari, a Marin County developer who has sought to build in Rancho San Juan since the early 1980s, proposed to build 1,147 homes and a golf course called Butterfly Villages in the first phase of the controversial 2,600-acre development.
