Detroit, Mich. -- The disparity between the American League and National League has rarely looked as drastic as it did during Tuesday night's All-Star Game.
The AL bats were simply too potent. The league's pitchers, including the Twins' Johan Santana and Joe Nathan, were too resilient. And for a while, the NL looked hopelessly overmatched.
After jumping to a seven-run lead by the sixth inning, the AL held on for a 7-5 victory before an announced crowd of 41,617 at Comerica Park, keeping the NL winless in All-Star play since 1996.
