Twenty years retired from baseball, former Met Rusty Staub is happy with how his old team has been playing thus far this year. As of June 14, the Mets sported a better record (32-31) than the Yankees (30-32).
"It's been exciting. There's no doubt that it's been an uplift. They're competing, and we're hoping it's going to be something that lasts to September and we have some competitive games vying for a championship again," said Staub, who remains a Mets goodwill ambassador.
Staub spoke during a brief interview at Doral Arrowwood Conference Resort, where he was on hand to pick up a well-deserved award, the President's Award presented by The Volunteer ...
