Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins, who was hired by the Cincinnati Reds as a pitching coach for one of their minor league teams, has asked for reassignment after suffering yet another tragedy.
Former big league pitcher Grant Jackson will replace Jenkins, whose girlfriend killed herself and Jenkins' 3-year-old daughter Samantha by carbon monoxide poisoning last month. The deaths took place just days after the Reds hired Jenkins as pitching coach for their Chattanooga AA farm team.
"I've had some pressures, some good days and bad days," Jenkins said in Chicago at a Chicago Cubs convention, his first public appearance since the murder/suicide.
