NEW YORK-Target delivered a message to suppliers at its recent annual vendor summit: Give us more exclusive merchandise, including well-known consumer brands.
The upscale discounter is also making a bold bid for 20-something consumers shopping for their first home or apartment with new lifestyle merchandising hooks, from modern to classic.
Target executives hammered home their demands for exclusivity to an estimated 600 suppliers at the retailer's Marketing Partnership Fair in Minneapolis, said home vendors, most of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity.
