Jul. 14--FREDERICK -- Last year was a good year to find a manufacturing job in Frederick County.
After years of declining manufacturing employment in the county, all four quarters of 2004 saw employment increases over 2003.
BP Solar, a maker of solar panels, is one of the county manufacturers that had a good year. "The panels hardly have time to dry before they are boxed up and shipped out," said director of operations Bill Poulin.
The Frederick plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and still can't keep up with demand. It is getting ready for a $25 million expansion that will add 50-75 more manufacturing jobs.
