The current attention being paid to minority hiring in sports is also shining a light on sports broadcasting, and the view is certainly not a very bright one.
Minorities are rare in significant roles both in front of and behind the cameras at the three sports networks, with only CBS Greg Gumbel enjoying "studio host" status. Though NBC has the largest cadre of Blacks in front of the camera, almost all of them are former pro athletes, as are the broadcasters at CBS and ABC.
