After a looming suspension hung over John Natalie from reported rough riding at Round 6 of the Moose/ITP motocross nationals at Budds Creek, he raced Round 7 at Red Bud under appeal. As stated in the rulebook, Natalie is allowed to race under appeal if proper forms and fees were submited. Natalie went on to finish with 2-1 motos, tallying first overall ahead of Suzukis Doug Gust.
