CHENNAI, July 18 Asia Pulse - Attracted by the growth explosion in the Indian leather sector, a leading Chinese footwear manufacturer has been exploring the option of setting up a footwear factory in India.

Chairman of Council for Leather Exports, Rafeeque Ahmed said that the officials of the Chinese firm visited some of the factories in India and had done a survey on various parameters like employee cost, power facilities and other infrastructure available.

Ahmed, who did not disclose the company's name, said the Chinese firm wanted to locate two of its factories outside China. It has planned to set up one in Vietnam and one in another country.
