Popular music acts have always had an influence on fashion and today's rap and hip hop musicians are no different. Starting in the mid-'80s with groups like Run DMC to current teenybopper duo Kriss Kross, -- the two adolescent boys from Atlanta who wear their jeans backwards -- rappers have been credited with starting or spreading a variety of apparel and footwear looks.
And while it sometimes appears athletes are more influential than rap/hip hop musicians are regarding what young men decide to put on their feet, this may be due in part to the marketing blitzes waged by athletic footwear brands.
