Jul. 18--SBA LOANS ARE ON A RECORD PACE: Orange County small-business loans guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration are on pace for another record-setting year.

Orange County businesses obtained 1,079 loans worth $332 million in the first three quarters of the federal fiscal year ended June 30. That is an 8 percent increase in the number of loans and a 16 percent increase in the amount of money borrowed.

Nationwide, the number of loans increased 21 percent to 71,131, and the dollar amount increased 20 percent to $11.1 billion.
