What is the Gundry House? Built shortly after the Civil War, Orchard Lawn has stood for 137 years as a landmark property in the old lead region of southwestern Wisconsin, according to a publication from the Mineral Point Historical Society.
Reconstruction background: Phase one started in 1999 when the society received a grant from the Jeffris Family Foundation. The house's exterior was redone, the library was reconstructed, the formal gardens were completed and air conditioning was added.
