Faurecia closing foam unit: automotive supplier reorganising foam, seating units in France.(newslines)

NANTERRE, FRANCE -- Faurecia is planning to close its seat-foam-making plant at Beaugency, France and transfer production mainly to two other sites: Magny-Vernois, France and Sao Joao da Madeira, Portugal.

Some 157 jobs will be lost as a result of the closure. Faurecia said it will offer the chance of alternative employment within the Group to all employees concerned.

The Beaugency move is needed, Faurecia said, for the group to remain competitive. Not only is Beaugency "a single activity and single technology plant," the group said, it also, "suffers from being located at a considerable distance from its customers."
