The race for two seats on the Auburn City Council just got smaller.
On Monday, Republican Roger Hare declined his party's nomination to run in the fall election. Hare, who had indicated he was going to drop out of the race, submitted a "declination of nomination" to the Cayuga County Board of Elections.
That leaves four candidates vying for the two four-year seats. The field consists of Robert Hunter, a Democratic incumbent; William J. Graney, a Democratic and Independence candidate; Jerry Morgan, a Republican and Independence candidate; and Matthew Smith, a Conservative.
