This is Independence resident Bobbie Jo Dalton's time of year.
The 2005 Northern Kentucky fair season kicks off this week as the Kenton County fair begins, bringing with it another season of demolition derbies for Dalton, 29, to race and, hopefully, win. Demolition derbies are a bit of a tradition for Dalton, who said her brothers and father turned her into a car enthusiast.
She particularly likes the demolition derby, because it allows her to be a woman in a man's world.
"I like getting in there with the men and showing them that we're just as tough," Dalton said.
