Jul. 20--Development's march west could give new life to a proposed extension of the Sawgrass Expressway into Palm Beach County. Almost 20 years ago, environmental concerns helped derail plans to stretch the Sawgrass north from Broward County into western Palm Beach County, beside the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.
But today neighborhoods and a high school stand on some of the land once reserved for a new western connection between Broward and Palm Beach counties.
