Sacred Heart of Mary High School was established as the first Catholic girls school in the Northwest suburbs in 1961 by the Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary. Initially, classrooms were rented from St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights, when 150 girls enrolled in the school's first year of operation.
