Dust mites may be very small in size, but they appear to have a large role in the occurrence and severity of a child's asthma. Several studies have demonstrated that lessening dust mite exposure decreases asthma symptoms. The problem is how best to rid a house of dust mites.
Household dust mites live in bedding, carpets, furnishings, and clothing. Beds are an important source of exposure since children spend so much time in bed, and, when in bed,. have a lot of contact with the bedding. Doctors believe that if house dust mite concentrations are lowered in bedding, asthmatic children will have fewer breathing problems.
