Jul. 23--After serving in various not-so-pleasant areas during World War II, Richard Waugh wanted to get back to Boulder.

The University of Colorado graduate wanted to get back to "God's country."

So when he, his brother and a few of their friends wanted to go into business for themselves, they left their jobs at the Standard Oil Co. in Indiana, and set up a chemicals company in Boulder.

The name Frontier Chemicals was taken by another company in Kansas, but after looking around at a street name, a mountain and a glacier, the crew named their company Arapahoe Chemicals Inc.
