At the end of June, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the construction of a new terminal for the import of liquefied natural gas in Fall River. Earlier this month the Massachusetts House voted to sidetrack a bill that would have blocked the project. Both decisions have been made despite the intense opposition of local residents and officials, congressmen, both U.S. senators and the governor.
