A consensus is building on biodegradability
The U.S. market for surfactants in 1992 showed small gains overall but displayed stronger growth for niche specialties and higher value-added products. Most surfactants manufacturers expect growth to match the economy's sluggish pace this year. "U.S. surfactants demand will grow with detergent consumption, which has averaged 1%-1.5% per year," forecasts Rich Lundgren, Jr., business manager for detergent products at Monsanto.
