Not so long ago, dog owners started planning vacations with a phone call to a reliable boarding kennel. These days, Fido's just as likely to be on board, even on a trans-Atlantic flight to Europe.
According to the Travel Industry Association of America, 14 percent of adult Americans - about 32 million people - have traveled with pets on trips of 50 miles or more in the past three years, and 78 percent of pets that travel with their owners are dogs.
