Edna Montague came in from her walk in the crisp autumn and paused before the bulletin-board in the hall of the Mount Edmond seminary to tack a notice thereon. She was a co-ed and boarded at the seminary, which was in affiliation with the Western University. She had been iii for a week and this was the first day that she had been allowed to come out. She was a quiet girl, with few friends among the nuns. The rich girls snubbed or ignored her because she was poor and the others were repelled by her reserve.
An expression of relief crossed Clara Hill's face as she read Edna Montague's notice:
