In an outstanding success for the frozen food industry, AFFI's legislative language which supports freezing as a food safety technology was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. The language was recently incorporated in the House Agriculture Appropriations bill and will now advance to the Senate for consideration.

This victory marks the culmination of AFFI's efforts to encourage members of the House of Representatives and Senate to include the language since January 2004. The language is based on a report by Douglas L. Archer, Ph.D., that was published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology, January 2004.
