"I made my first visit to Wexford in 1996, as a conductor, and had a most happy and productive time. I remember thinking, 'What a fortunate man [then director] Luigi Ferrari is!' Well, I'm that fortunate man now, and after only six months in the post, I feel more enthusiastic than ever."
David Agler, the seventh artistic director of the Wexford Festival Opera and the first conductor in that role, is clearly excited about his prestigious assignment, and early signs are that he will have a considerable impact on the 55-year-old festival.
