NEW YORK (FNS)--It looks like Donna Karan Co. could be the next big apparel firm to jump into the red-hot public market.

The word on Wall Street is that the designer fashion firm is currently conducting a "beauty contest" --shopping around for the underwriter that will give it the best deal on an initial public offering. An insider at a firm that has been approached by Donna Karan confirmed the report Wednesday.
