Large-scale industry profits up 19.1% in the first half of year

Beijing. July 26. INTERFAX-CHINA - The profits of large-scale Chinese industrial enterprises leapt 19.1% in the first half of the year compared to the same period of 2004, China's National Bureau of Statistics announced yesterday.

During the first six months, the country's large-scale industrial enterprises - a designation that includes non-state owned firms with a yearly sales income of RMB 5 mln (USD 616,545) or more, as well as all state owned enterprises - earned total profits of RMB 626.6 bln (USD 77.27 bln), up 19.1% over last year, according to the bureau.
