The White Sox played Saturday against the Red Sox the way some pessimistic fans expect them to play in the post-season, perhaps against the same Red Sox.
They had nothing.
Manny Ramirez hit a 2-run home run in the first inning, and Boston starter Wade Miller and three relievers made that lead stand up on the way to a 3-0 win over the White Sox at sold out U.S. Cellular Field.
The White Sox have won the most games in the major leagues this season by manufacturing runs. But that is a two- or three-step process, and the White Sox failed to come through with steps 2 and 3 Saturday.
