A nonprofit agency that serves people with disabilities and their families has begun planning to raise cash, as well as its public profile, following its spinoff this month from Westchester Medical Center.
The Westchester Institute for Human Development completed its transition July 1 from a unit of the Valhalla regional hospital to an independent nonprofit corporation. The newly independent institute will operate on a $10 million first-year budget and has retained its staff of 130 and its offices within Cedarwood Hall on the Grasslands campus in Valhalla.
