Almost all previous writers who have dealt with the delimitation of Egypt's north-eastern boundary in Sinai have examined the subject from the viewpoint of circumstances subsequent to the time of the boundary delimitation. They have related this either to British Middle East pre-First World War diplomacy or to the history of Palestine and Israel.(1) Among them there were several who have even doubted Egypt's sovereignty over Sinai.(2) All these writers have relied mainly upon British sources relating to two political crises, of 1892 and 1906, and upon a selection of historical documents as well.
